Dream House
When we were kids one of our favorite things to do was draw extremely detailed plans and blueprints for dream houses. It would start on just one page but quickly expand to four, five or six pieces of paper that needed to be taped together. Mazes of hallways leading from room to room, ladders, slides, waterfalls, landing pads, ball pits, petting zoos — nothing was off limits or out of bounds. Sometimes the houses were on wheels so we travelled all around the world. Of course, all our best friends lived in the houses with us and we each had our own separate wings with a complicated system of intercoms and walkie talkies that helped us communicate where we were at any given time. Grand staircases led to trap doors, there were libraries with hidden passageways, gardens, greenhouses, playrooms with rollercoasters, high-ropes courses and anti-gravity chambers. We’d like to propose that we bring back the spirit of this kind of manifestation. When was the last time we allowed ourselves to sit down and draw up some blueprints from deep in our wildest imaginations? What happens when we do?
This puzzle freatures original artwork by Lony Mathis, an artist and illustrator based in Vienna. Lony's illustrations are mainly created digitally and serve as a portal into a pastel-coloured land of milk and honey, where puppies, as a symbol of friendship and loyalty, comfort us while we eat heart-shaped pizzas and play Snake on our Nokia 3310. It's all about love and positivity here, focusing on what unites us rather than what sets us apart. The vibrant works of Lony are an explosion of shared memories for 90s kids and have one clear goal: to make us feel good and safe.
