We Are a Quilt
Next time you have a chance to look closely at a quilt, try to determine where the first stitch was made and where the final stitch was sewn. Can you? You may be able to understand the order of some of the decisions based on which fabrics are placed on top of others, but generally it’s almost impossible to determine where a quilt begins and ends. Quilt work is a literal patchwork of stitches, each acting as a network of support, each stitch holding up the next one in line. It makes sense that communities and cooperatives are often described in similar terms. I want to see a world that brings the qualities of a quilt and the ethos of this kind of care into our daily lives. A quilt is an exercise in cooperation. Let’s build a world of cooperation and shared ideas not a world of competitiveness and greed.
This puzzle features a hand made quilt by artist Kristine Reano-Hager, a New York based artist whose works are all one of a kind creations each one is perfectly imperfect and special.
