The Tale of the Flat Lime
Have you ever heard the story of the Flat Lime? It happened in Indiana in the late ’50s. The story goes that the whole town was out at the county fairgrounds at a carnival one night. Everyone was there having a great time when, all of a sudden, this giant, round, green disk zooms past the carnival and then spins around and comes back. It stops right above the crowd and everyone is frozen in place. The ship is bright green, somewhat porous, and it smells nice and fresh. After about 30 seconds of total stillness, the flat green ship drops thousands of bright green spherers on the carnival-goers. Luckily, they were light, so no one was hurt. The flat green disk shot away as fast as it came and, once it left, everyone inspected the green spheres. They turned out to be fruit and had a tart and delicous flesh on the inside. And that’s a completely historically accurate story about how we got limes! They totally didn’t exist before that.
If there is one puzzle that we could point to as the main inspiration for Le Puzz as a whole it would have to be Flat Banana, a rare solid yellow jigsaw puzzle made by Springbok in 1979. We like to think that Flat Fruit series are the unofficial little siblings to Flat Banana.
