The Legend of the FPG's
The Flat Pink Grapefruits—otherwise known as the FPGs—were a popular band adjacent to Riot Grrrl in the ’90s. The frontwoman and lead singer was the infamous Jean Grape. Florence Fox played bass, and Dani Pink was on drums. They came up with the name Flat Pink Grapefruit because of the combination of their last names as well as their iconic flat hairdos. They would gel their hair flat and slick it straight back, like it was blowing in the wind. They were famous for throwing grapefruits at people in the mosh pit at their shows. One time, someone got hit in the face and had to go to the hospital—he said it was the “coolest thing that’s ever happened to me.” The FPGs are in their 50s now, and I think they live in Sweden or something.
If there is one puzzle that we could point to as the main inspiration for Le Puzz as a whole it would have to be Flat Banana, a rare solid yellow jigsaw puzzle made by Springbok in 1979. We like to think that the Flat Fruit Series are the unofficial little siblings to Flat Banana.
