The Cycle of Life
Did you know that when oranges grow, they begin flat before bees literally blow them up? It’s true! When an orange grows on a tree, it starts off flat like a disk. First, it’s about the size of a dime, then a nickel, and then a quarter! By the time it reaches roughly the size of a CD, a bee comes along and pollinates it. The bee wiggles its face into the orange just enough that its weird little bee lips are inside the fruit. Once they’re in there, the bee blows air into the orange for around 24 hours. It takes the little bee all that time to produce enough air to puff the orange into the round shape we see. Once the bee has finished its job, it leaves the orange to find another one to pollinate. Thank you, bees!
If there is one puzzle that we could point to as the main inspiration for Le Puzz as a whole it would have to be Flat Banana, a rare solid yellow jigsaw puzzle made by Springbok in 1979. We like to think that Flat Fruit series are the unofficial little siblings to Flat Banana.
