The Making Of: Honeyland

Meet Lony Mathis, the Vienna-born creative brain behind our newest 1000-piece puzzle: Honeyland! Lony’s work is bold, colorful, and warm. It exudes love and positivity, often bringing the viewer into a world full of friendship, silliness, and whimsy. We often joke that if we could move to Honeyland, we would!
Lony works primarily in digital form, usually drawing on a tablet. This allows her to soften edges and saturate colors and play with scale. Her favorite fruit is strawberries, she’s a Capricorn, and she collects toys — something we definitely have in common!

We couldn't love this puzzle more if we tried!
Shop Honeyland Now!We began chatting with Lony in March or 2024 when she reached out about possibly doing a puzzle together. We were already fans of her work so were excited to make something with her. We knew her big colorful worlds would make a perfect 1000-piece puzzle full of silly little scenes and easter eggs to discover.
Looking through her work, the image below was the type of drawing we thought would make for a really fun puzzle. We loved the different colored rooms and all of the little characters doing different things. Our only suggestion was that she use Polly Pocket as an inspiration to create a setting.
She started sketching out some ideas to give us a feel for the scale and layout. We were obsessed with both sketches, but we did worry one was leaning a little too close to Polly Pocket territory. So we asked her to swap out the bottom part — and she came back with the dreamiest front yard we’ve ever seen. Total magic.
She came back to us with the gorgeous image that we see in the finalized puzzle. Full of colors, cuties, whimsey and FUN! We couldn't love this puzzle more if we tried. We hope it transports you into a happier place when you puzzle it.
